Daily Bible Reading: Revelation 8, Amos 7-9

4 PLUS 3 TRUMPETS

Just like what will happen with the 7 seals, the first 4 trumpets will also be different with the last 3. After the first 4 trumpets happened, John wrote: And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound Rev.8:13!” The last three trumpets will be the most horrible one and it will happen in the day of antichrist, while the first 4 trumpets will happen before the rapture take place.

Lots of destruction and death will happen during the first 4 trumpets, but still it is not a complete destruction. The 4 trumpets will destroy only the third of everything, so that another two-thirds shall be left. Even a third of the stars (those who had turned many people to righteousness Dan.12:3) will be struck Rev.8:12. God said to Daniel: “And some of those of understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time Dan.11:35.”

Jesus told His disciples how to be delivered from the disaster that will happen at the last days: “Watch therefore and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man Luk.21:36.” And indeed, God also have something to do with that two-thirds that left. Those who are delivered from that big trouble must glorify God just like what the psalmist wrote: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me Psa.50:15.”

4 DITAMBAH 3 SANGKAKALA

Sama seperti apa yang akan terjadi dengan 7 meterai, maka 4 sangkakala yang pertama juga akan berbeda dengan 3 yang terakhir. Setelah 4 sangkakala pertama berlangsung, Yohanes menulis: Lalu aku melihat: aku mendengar seekor burung nasar terbang di tengah langit dan berkata dengan suara nyaring: “Celaka, celaka, celakalah mereka yang diam di atas bumi oleh karena bunyi sangkakala ketiga malaikat lain, yang masih akan meniup sangkakalanya Wah.8:13.” Ketiga sangkakala terakhir akan sangat mengerikan dan itu akan terjadi pada zaman antikristus, sedangkan 4 sangkakala pertama akan berlangsung sebelum pengangkatan terjadi.

Banyak kehancuran dan kematian akan terjadi selama 4 sangkakala pertama, namun itu bukanlah kehancuran total. 4 sangkakala hanya akan menghancurkan sepertiga dari segalanya, sehingga tersisa dua pertiga. Bahkan sepertiga dari bintang-bintang (mereka yang telah menuntun banyak orang kepada kebenaran Dan.12:3) akan dipukul Wah.8:12. Tuhan berkata kepada Daniel: “Sebagian dari orang-orang bijaksana itu akan jatuh, supaya dengan demikian diadakan pengujian, penyaringan dan pemurnian di antara mereka, sampai pada akhir zaman; sebab akhir zaman itu belum mencapai waktu yang telah ditetapkan Dan.11:35.”

Yesus mengatakan pada murid-murid-Nya bagaimana supaya terluput dari bencana yang akan terjadi di akhir zaman: “Berjaga-jagalah senantiasa sambil berdoa, supaya kamu beroleh kekuatan untuk luput dari semua yang akan terjadi itu, dan supaya kamu tahan berdiri di hadapan Anak Manusia Luk.21:36.” Dan sesungguhnya, Allah juga mempunyai rencana bagi dua pertiga yang tersisa itu. Mereka yang diluputkan dari masalah besar itu harus memuliakan Allah seperti yang ditulis pemazmur: “Berserulah kepada-Ku pada waktu kesesakan, Aku akan meluputkan engkau, dan engkau akan memuliakan Aku Mzm.50:15.”
