Daily Bible Reading: Revelation 14, Nahum 1-3

MOUNT ZION

The vision that John received about what will happen at the end times must be very great and indeed it involves so many events that may happen simultaneously. After writing down the description of those 2 beasts, John wrote: Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads Rev.14:1.

That is not a physical Mount Zion in Jerusalem, but it explains the truth about Mount Zion. It took 40 years for people of Israel walk from Egypt to the Promised Land, but it took more longer, about 400 years, to conquer all Promised Land completely! It happened in the days of King David when he took the stronghold of Zion and then it called as the city of David 2Sam.5:7. Truly, Mount Zion means the ultimate victory, conquer completely.

John saw the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion together with 144,000 people who also conquer completely. John explained: “They are redeemed from the earth. These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God Rev.14:3-5.” The conditions of those 144,000 exactly the same with what David wrote thousands of years before in book of Psalms: Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill Psa.15:1-5? Truly, walking in holiness is really matter and God is happy to invite all the redeemed to dwell very close with Him.

BUKIT SION

Penglihatan yang diterima Yohanes tentang apa yang akan terjadi di akhir zaman pasti sangatlah besar dan sesungguhnya hal itu melibatkan begitu banyak peristiwa yang mungkin terjadi secara bersamaan. Setelah menuliskan penjelasan dari kedua binatang itu, Yohanes menulis: Dan aku melihat: sesungguhnya, Anak Domba berdiri di bukit Sion dan bersama-sama dengan Dia seratus empat puluh empat ribu orang dan di dahi mereka tertulis nama-Nya dan nama Bapa-Nya Wah.14:1.

Itu bukanlah Bukit Sion secara fisik di Yerusalem, namun hal itu menjelaskan kebenaran tentang Bukit Sion. Dibutuhkan 40 tahun bagi orang Israel untuk berjalan dari Mesir ke Tanah Perjanjian, namun membutuhkan waktu lebih lama, sekitar 400 tahun, untuk menaklukkan seluruh Tanah Perjanjian sepenuhnya! Itu terjadi pada zaman Raja Daud ketika dia merebut kubu pertahanan Sion dan kemudian disebut sebagai kota Daud 2Sam.5:7. Sesungguhnya, Bukit Sion berarti kemenangan tertinggi, penaklukan sepenuhnya.

Yohanes melihat Anak Domba berdiri di bukit Sion bersama 144.000 orang yang juga telah menaklukkan semuanya. Yohanes menjelaskan, “Mereka adalah orang yang telah ditebus dari bumi itu. Mereka adalah orang-orang yang tidak mencemarkan dirinya dengan perempuan-perempuan, karena mereka murni sama seperti perawan. Mereka adalah orang-orang yang mengikuti Anak Domba itu ke mana saja Ia pergi. Mereka ditebus dari antara manusia sebagai korban-korban sulung bagi Allah dan bagi Anak Domba itu. Dan di dalam mulut mereka tidak terdapat dusta; mereka tidak bercela Wah.14:3-5.” Kondisi dari 144.000 orang itu sama persis dengan apa yang Daud tulis ribuan tahun sebelumnya dalam kitab Mazmur: Tuhan, siapa yang boleh menumpang dalam kemah-Mu? Siapa yang boleh diam di gunung-Mu yang kudus Maz.15:1-5? Sesungguhnya, berjalan dalam kekudusan adalah hal yang sangat berarti dan Allah dengan senang hati mau mengundang semua orang tebusan untuk tinggal begitu dekat dengan-Nya.
