Daily Bible reading: Matthew 28, Leviticus 21-22
THE GREAT COMMISSION
Gospel of Matthew was concluded with very important commandment for the disciples. It is called the great commission and that is the heart of Jesus. When Jesus explained the kingdom of heaven in the parable of great supper, He told how His house must be filled Luk.14:23. Jesus asked His disciples, and also all believers, to extend that glorious invitation so that more people can know Jesus and be like Jesus.
Jesus said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age Mat.28:19-20.” The target of the great commission is to bring people into His marvellous light, not only just know about Jesus, but living in the best method of discipleship by letting the Holy Spirit to teach them all the time in their life Jn.14:26.
What Jesus wants us to do is take the first step to introduce people to Jesus, just like how Andrew met Jesus, then he let his brother, Peter, know about it and brought him to Jesus Jn.1:40-42. Never be afraid to let people know about Jesus as Jesus promised to be with us always, even to the end of age.
AMANAT AGUNG
Injil Matius ditutup dengan perintah yang sangat penting bagi para murid. Perintah itu disebut Amanat Agung dan itulah hati Yesus. Ketika Yesus menjelaskan kerajaan surga dalam perumpamaan tentang perjamuan besar, Dia mengatakan bagaimana rumah-Nya harus penuh Luk.14:23. Yesus meminta para murid-Nya, juga semua orang percaya, untuk melanjutkan undangan yang mulia itu agar lebih banyak orang dapat mengenal Yesus dan menjadi seperti Yesus.
Yesus berkata: “Karena itu pergilah, jadikanlah semua bangsa murid-Ku dan baptislah mereka dalam nama Bapa dan Anak dan Roh Kudus, dan ajarlah mereka melakukan segala sesuatu yang telah Kuperintahkan kepadamu. Dan ketahuilah, Aku menyertai kamu senantiasa sampai kepada akhir zaman Mat.28:19-20.” Tujuan dari Amanat Agung adalah membawa orang-orang masuk ke dalam terang-Nya yang ajaib, bukan hanya tahu tentang Yesus, tetapi hidup di dalam metode pemuridan yang terbaik, yaitu dengan mengizinkan Roh Kudus mengajar mereka sepanjang waktu dalam hidup mereka Yoh.14:26.
Yang diinginkan Yesus untuk kita lakukan adalah mengambil langkah pertama untuk memperkenalkan orang pada Yesus, sama seperti bagaimana Andreas bertemu Yesus, kemudian ia memberitahu saudaranya, Petrus, lalu membawanya pada Yesus Yoh.1:40-42. Jangan pernah takut untuk memberitahu orang-orang tentang Yesus karena Yesus berjanji untuk selalu menyertai kita, bahkan sampai akhir zaman.
