Daily Bible Reading: Ephesians 6, Job 41-42

THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT

Among the whole armour of God that are mentioned in this chapter, we can find only one weapon to attack while the rest are used to defence, and that is the sword of the Spirit! “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints Eph.6:17-18.”

Having the Holy Spirit in our life will definitely enable us to attack the enemy! We know that the devil is our enemy and will always be our enemy Eph.6:12. We are not meant to just only be defensive against his attack, but God also wants us to attack him back with the most powerful spiritual weapon.

The sword of the Spirit is the powerful word of God that quickened by the Holy Spirit! Jesus said: “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life Jn.6:63.” Paul wrote: “Not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life 2Cor.3:6.” We must let the Holy Spirit to always quicken the Word of God that we read every day, so that those Words will alive, fill with power from on high, and fully anointed. Without the work of Holy Spirit, the Word of God will be no more that just information for our brain. But with the work of Holy Spirit, the Word of God will become alive and very powerful to attack the devil. Satan know that there is great power within the Word of God that quickened by the Holy Spirit. Do not let him steal that weapon from us!

PEDANG ROH

Di antara seluruh perlengkapan senjata Allah yang disebutkan dalam fatsal ini, kita hanya dapat menemukan satu senjata untuk menyerang sementara sisanya digunakan untuk bertahan, dan itu adalah pedang Roh! “Dan terimalah ketopong keselamatan dan pedang Roh, yaitu firman Allah, dalam segala doa dan permohonan. Berdoalah setiap waktu di dalam Roh dan berjaga-jagalah di dalam doamu itu dengan permohonan yang tak putus-putusnya untuk segala orang Kudus Ef.6:17-18.”

Memiliki Roh Kudus di dalam kehidupan ini pastilah akan memampukan kita untuk menyerang si musuh! Kita tahu bahwa iblis adalah musuh kita dan dia akan selalu menjadi musuh kita Ef.6:12. Kita tidak seharusnya hanya menunjukkan sikap bertahan terhadap serangannya, tetapi Allah juga mau supaya kita menyerangnya kembali dengan senjata rohani yang paling kuat.

Pedang Roh adalah Firman Allah yang berkuasa yang dihidupkan oleh Roh Kudus! Yesus berkata: “Rohlah yang memberi hidup, daging sama sekali tidak berguna. Perkataan-perkataan yang Kukatakan kepadamu adalah roh dan hidup Yoh.6:63.” Paulus menulis: ”Yang tidak terdiri dari hukum yang tertulis, tetapi dari Roh, sebab hukum yang tertulis mematikan, tetapi Roh menghidupkan 2Kor.3:6.” Kita harus mengizinkan Roh Kudus untuk selalu menghidupkan Firman Tuhan yang kita baca setiap hari, sehingga Firman itu akan hidup, dipenuhi dengan kuasa dari tempat tinggi, dan diurapi sepenuhnya. Tanpa pekerjaan Roh Kudus, Firman Allah tidak lebih dari sekedar informasi bagi otak kita. Tetapi dengan pekerjaan Roh Kudus, Firman Allah akan menjadi hidup dan sangat kuat untuk menyerang iblis. Setan tahu bahwa ada kuasa yang besar dalam Firman Allah yang dihidupkan oleh Roh Kudus. Jangan biarkan dia mencuri senjata itu dari kita!
