WHO IS THE MAN OF SIN?

Ready or not, the Bible said so many times about something very terrible that will happen at the end times. Paul explained to the church of the Thessalonians: “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God 2Thes.2:3-4.”

Who is this man of sin? Jesus also said about that man: “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains Mat.24:15-16.” Apostle John explained that the man of sin is the antichrists. John wrote: “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us 1Jn.2:19.”

The man of sin will come according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders 2Thes.2:9. Even though the man of sin will have such great power, the Bible told us that the beast with the false prophet will cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone Rev.19:20. The Lord will consume him with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming 2Thes.2:8.

SIAPAKAH MANUSIA DURHAKA ITU?

Siap atau tidak, Alkitab mengatakan berkali-kali tentang sesuatu yang sangat mengerikan yang akan terjadi pada akhir zaman. Paulus menjelaskan kepada jemaat Tesalonika: “Janganlah kamu memberi dirimu disesatkan orang dengan cara yang bagaimanapun juga! Sebab sebelum Hari itu haruslah datang dahulu murtad dan haruslah dinyatakan dahulu manusia durhaka, yang harus binasa, yaitu lawan yang meninggikan diri di atas segala yang disebut atau yang disembah sebagai Allah. Bahkan ia duduk di Bait Allah dan mau menyatakan diri sebagai Allah 2Tes.2:3-4.”

Siapakah manusia durhaka ini? Yesus juga berkata tentang hal itu: “Jadi apabila kamu melihat Pembinasa keji berdiri di tempat kudus, menurut firman yang disampaikan oleh nabi Daniel – para pembaca hendaklah memperhatikannya – maka orang-orang yang di Yudea haruslah melarikan diri ke pegunungan Mat.24:15-16.” Rasul Yohanes menjelaskan bahwa manusia durhaka itu adalah antikristus. Yohanes menulis, ”Memang mereka berasal dari antara kita, tetapi mereka tidak sungguh-sungguh termasuk pada kita; sebab jika mereka sungguh-sungguh termasuk pada kita, niscaya mereka tetap bersama-sama dengan kita. Tetapi hal itu terjadi, supaya menjadi nyata, bahwa tidak semua mereka sungguh-sungguh termasuk pada kita 1Yoh.2:19.”

Manusia durhaka akan datang dengan pekerjaan Iblis, dan akan disertai rupa-rupa perbuatan ajaib, tanda-tanda dan mujizat-mujizat palsu 2Tes.2:9. Meskipun manusia durhaka itu akan memiliki kekuatan yang sedemikian besar, Alkitab mengatakan bahwa binatang itu bersama dengan nabi palsunya akan dilemparkan hidup-hidup ke dalam lautan api yang menyala-nyala oleh belerang Wah.19:20. Tuhan Yesus akan membunuhnya dengan nafas mulut-Nya dan akan memusnahkannya, kalau Dia datang kembali 2Tes.2:8.
