WHAT IS THE UNFORGIVEN SIN?

Jesus warned His people about the unforgiven sin. He said: “Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness but is subject to eternal condemnation Mrk.3:28-29.” So, what is the unforgiven sin? The answer is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit!

Back to those days, the scribes said about Jesus: “He has Beelzebub; By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons Mrk.3:22.” Then Jesus called them to Himself and said something very important for them! The scribes knew about the Old Testament, they were not ignorant about all of the prophecy about Messiah, they understood almost all things, they saw the Messiah and His miracles just right in the front of their eyes, but then they still decided to blaspheme Jesus. They actually could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in every works and miracles of Jesus, but they decided to attribute it as the works of the demons.

Jesus said about the Holy Spirit: “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment Jn.16:8.” A continual rejection to the conviction from the Holy Spirit up until the minute of someone’s death will definitely bring that person to eternal condemnation. Holy Spirit will work in His miraculous way to convict someone, so that person may come to the salvation in Jesus Christ. Because those who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and those who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him Jn.3:36.

APAKAH DOSA YANG TIDAK DAPAT DIAMPUNI?

Yesus memperingatkan umat-Nya tentang dosa yang tidak dapat diampuni. Dia berkata: “Aku berkata kepadamu: Sesungguhnya semua dosa dan hujat anak-anak manusia akan diampuni, ya, semua hujat yang mereka ucapkan. Tetapi apabila seorang menghujat Roh Kudus, ia tidak mendapat ampun selama-lamanya, melainkan bersalah karena berbuat dosa kekal Mrk.3:28-29.” Jadi, apakah dosa yang tidak diampuni? Jawabannya adalah penghujatan terhadap Roh Kudus!

Kembali pada masa itu, para ahli Taurat berkata tentang Yesus: “Ia kerasukan Beelzebul; dengan penghulu setan Ia mengusir setan Mrk.3:22.” Kemudian Yesus memanggil mereka tersendiri dan mengatakan sesuatu yang sangat penting bagi mereka! Para ahli Taurat tahu tentang Perjanjian Lama, mereka paham semua nubuat tentang Mesias, mereka mengerti hampir semua hal, mereka melihat Mesias dan mujizat-Nya tepat di depan mata mereka, tetapi kemudian mereka masih memutuskan untuk menghujat Yesus. Mereka sebenarnya dapat merasakan kehadiran Roh Kudus dalam setiap pekerjaan dan mujizat Yesus, tetapi mereka memutuskan untuk menyebut itu semua sebagai perbuatan iblis.

Yesus berkata tentang Roh Kudus: “Dan kalau Ia datang, Ia akan menginsafkan dunia akan dosa, kebenaran dan penghakiman Yoh.16:8.” Penolakan terus-menerus terhadap penginsafan dari Roh Kudus sampai pada menit kematian seseorang pastilah akan membawa orang itu pada penghukuman kekal. Roh Kudus akan bekerja dengan cara-Nya yang ajaib untuk menginsafkan seseorang, sehingga orang itu dapat datang pada keselamatan dalam Yesus Kristus. Karena barangsiapa percaya kepada Anak, ia beroleh hidup yang kekal, tetapi barangsiapa tidak taat kepada Anak, ia tidak akan melihat hidup, melainkan murka Allah tetap ada di atasnya Yoh.3:36.
