Daily Bible Reading: Acts 17:16-34, Deuteronomy 30-31
FROM MARKETPLACE TO AREOPAGUS
The ministry at Athens was simply started at the most common place. Paul knew no one at that city, but Paul knew exactly where to go to find people: the marketplace. Holy Spirit led Paul to encounter the local people there, the non-believers, the philosophers of Epicurean and Stoic Ac.17:17-18.
Holy Spirit also wants to send us to the marketplace so that we can meet new people who never know about Jesus in their life. Jesus taught His disciples to love their neighbour Mat.22:39 and marketplace is the good place to meet our neighbour! Marketplace is our ministry field, the best place to make a friend with non-believers. Our objective is only to share about Jesus just like Paul preached Jesus and the resurrection to the people at the marketplace Ac.17:18.
What Paul had done then became obvious by more people, created the snow-ball effect, so they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, the most important place in Athens at those days. Holy Spirit amazingly led Paul from the marketplace to the Areopagus so that Athens could hear about Jesus and His resurrection! Holy Spirit is able to lead each believer uniquely. Let’s give our hand to the Holy Spirit and let Him has His way in us.
DARI PASAR MENUJU AREOPAGUS
Pelayanan di Athena dimulai di tempat yang paling umum. Paulus tidak mengenal siapa pun di kota itu, tetapi Paulus tahu persis ke mana dia dapat mencari orang: di pasar. Roh Kudus menuntun Paulus untuk bertemu dengan orang-orang lokal di sana, orang-orang yang belum percaya, ahli pikir dari golongan Epikuros dan Stoa Kis.17:17-18.
Roh Kudus juga ingin mengirim kita ke pasar sehingga kita dapat bertemu dengan orang-orang baru yang belum pernah tahu tentang Yesus di sepanjang hidup mereka. Yesus mengajar murid-murid-Nya untuk mengasihi sesamanya Mat.22:39 dan pasar adalah tempat yang sangat baik untuk bertemu dengan sesama kita! ‘Marketplace’ adalah ladang pelayanan kita, tempat terbaik untuk menjalin teman dengan orang yang belum percaya. Tujuan kita hanyalah untuk memperkenalkan Yesus seperti Paulus memberitakan Yesus dan kebangkitan kepada orang-orang di ‘marketplace’ Kis.17:18.
Apa yang dilakukan Paulus menarik perhatian lebih banyak orang, menciptakan efek bola salju, sehingga mereka mengajaknya dan membawanya ke Areopagus, tempat paling penting di Athena pada masa itu. Roh Kudus dengan luar biasa menuntun Paulus dari pasar menuju Areopagus sehingga Athena dapat mendengar tentang Yesus dan kebangkitan-Nya! Roh Kudus mampu memimpin setiap orang percaya secara unik. Mari kita memberikan tangan kita pada Roh Kudus dan mengizinkan Dia memiliki jalan-Nya di dalam kita.
