3 THINGS TO DO WITH HARD SAYING

It might not always easy to understand the will of God. Even the disciples of Jesus sometimes also found difficult to understand completely the word of Jesus. The Bible wrote: Therefore, many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?” From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more Jn.6:60, 66.

While some of them took wrong decision by leaving Jesus, other good disciples chose to abide with Jesus. Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also, we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God Jn.6:68-69.” The response of Peter was totally amazing, and his attitude blessed other disciples.

There are 3 important things to do whenever we find hard saying. First, do not go away. His commandments are not burdensome 1Jn.5:3. Instead, the problem must be within our heart Heb.3:15. Facing hard saying is an important sign that we must learn more, meditate more, and obey more. Second, keep looking unto Jesus. Even though Peter might not understand yet, he did not give up because he believed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. This is the primal faith that we must hold on at all the times. Having that faith will help us to always have a correct attitude toward the Word of God, His word is the absolute truth Jn.17:17. Indeed, encountering hard saying is an open invitation to walk closer with Jesus Mrk.4:11. Third, be faithful to the end. The disciples who abide faithful then able to say: “See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech! Now we are sure that You know all things and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God Jn.16:29-30.” Whenever we find any hard saying from Jesus, let us come even closer to Him.

3 HAL YANG HARUS DILAKUKAN TERHADAP PERKATAAN YANG KERAS

Memang tidak selalu mudah untuk memahami kehendak Allah. Bahkan murid-murid Yesus terkadang juga merasa sulit untuk memahami sepenuhnya perkataan Yesus. Alkitab mencatat: Sesudah mendengar semuanya itu banyak dari murid-murid Yesus yang berkata: “Perkataan ini keras, siapakah yang sanggup mendengarkannya?” Mulai dari waktu itu banyak murid-murid-Nya mengundurkan diri dan tidak lagi mengikut Dia Yoh.6:60, 66.

Sementara beberapa dari mereka mengambil keputusan yang salah dengan meninggalkan Yesus, murid-murid lain yang baik memilih untuk tetap tinggal bersama Yesus. Simon Petrus menjawab Dia, “Tuhan, kepada siapakah kami akan pergi? Perkataan-Mu adalah perkataan hidup yang kekal; dan kami telah percaya dan tahu, bahwa Engkau adalah Yang Kudus dari Allah Yoh.6:68-69.” Tanggapan Petrus benar-benar luar biasa, dan sikapnya memberkati murid-murid lainnya.

Ada 3 hal penting yang harus dilakukan setiap kali kita menemukan perkataan yang keras. Pertama, jangan pergi. Perintah-perintah-Nya itu tidak berat 1Yoh5:3. Sebaliknya, masalahnya pastilah ada di dalam hati kita Ibr.3:15. Menghadapi perkataan yang keras adalah tanda penting bahwa kita harus belajar lebih banyak, merenung lebih banyak, dan taat lebih banyak. Kedua, tetap pandang pada Yesus. Meskipun Petrus mungkin belum mengerti, dia tidak menyerah karena dia percaya bahwa Yesus adalah Kristus, Putra Allah yang hidup. Ini adalah iman dasar yang harus dipegang setiap saat. Memiliki iman seperti itu akan sangat menolong kita untuk selalu memiliki sikap yang benar terhadap Firman Tuhan, Firman-Nya adalah kebenaran yang mutlak Yoh.17:17. Sesungguhnya, menghadapi perkataan yang keras adalah undangan terbuka untuk berjalan lebih dekat lagi dengan Yesus Mrk.4:11. Ketiga, tetaplah setia sampai akhir. Murid-murid yang setia kemudian dapat berkata: “Lihat, sekarang Engkau terus terang berkata-kata dan Engkau tidak memakai kiasan. Sekarang kami tahu, bahwa Engkau mengetahui segala sesuatu dan tidak perlu orang bertanya kepada-Mu. Karena itu kami percaya, bahwa Engkau datang dari Allah Yoh.16:29-30.” Kapanpun kita menemukan perkataan yang keras dari Yesus, marilah kita semakin mendekat pada-Nya.
