Daily Bible Reading: Hebrews 4, Isaiah 14-16

THE 7^TH DAY

The believers must aim their journey of faith to enter the seventh day. The Bible said: For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His Heb.4:8-10.

Since the beginning of everything, God already created and declared the seventh day as the day of rest. God rested from all His work which He had done, then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it Gen.2:2-3. At the days when the book of Hebrews was written, people might think that entering the promised land physically was the real meaning of that rest but unfortunately it was wrong. We are still looking forward entering into that true rest.

The Bible told us: Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience Heb.4:11. The two biggest hindrance of entering that true rest are laziness and disobedience. People may use thousand reasons to camouflage those laziness and disobedience, but the word of God is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart Heb.4:12. The word of God will definitely purify us from any wrong nor evil thoughts. By having a good and faithful commitment to have fellowship in the word of God everyday, actually we are in the correct path of being diligent to enter that true rest.

HARI KETUJUH

Orang percaya harus mengarahkan perjalanan iman mereka untuk memasuki hari ketujuh. Alkitab berkata: Sebab, andaikata Yosua telah membawa mereka masuk ke tempat perhentian, pasti Allah tidak akan berkata-kata kemudian tentang suatu hari lain. Jadi masih tersedia suatu hari perhentian, hari ketujuh, bagi umat Allah. Sebab barangsiapa telah masuk ke tempat perhentian-Nya, ia sendiri telah berhenti dari segala pekerjaannya, sama seperti Allah berhenti dari pekerjaan-Nya Ibr.4:8-10.

Sejak awal segala sesuatu, Allah telah menciptakan dan mendeklarasikan hari ketujuh sebagai hari perhentian. Allah berhenti dari segala pekerjaan yang telah dibuat-Nya itu, lalu Allah memberkati hari ketujuh itu dan menguduskannya Kej.2:2-3. Pada zaman ketika kitab Ibrani ditulis, orang mungkin berpikir bahwa memasuki tanah perjanjian secara jasmani adalah arti sebenarnya dari perhentian itu, namun sayangnya hal itu salah. Kita masih menantikan untuk memasuki perhentian sejati tersebut.

Alkitab mengatakan: Karena itu baiklah kita berusaha (NKJV: diligent; rajin) untuk masuk ke dalam perhentian itu, supaya jangan seorangpun jatuh karena mengikuti contoh ketidaktaatan itu juga Ibr.4:11. Dua halangan terbesar untuk memasuki perhentian sejati itu adalah kemalasan dan ketidaktaatan. Orang mungkin dapat memakai beribu alasan untuk menyamarkan kemalasan dan ketidaktaatan itu, namun Firman Tuhan adalah sanggup membedekan pertimbangan dan pikiran hati Ibr.4:12. Firman Allah pastilah akan memurnikan kita dari pikiran yang salah ataupun yang jahat. Dengan memiliki komitmen yang baik dan setia untuk bersekutu dalam Firman Allah setiap hari, sesungguhnya kita sedang berada di jalur yang benar yaitu bersikap rajin dalam memasuki perhentian sejati tersebut.
